Spicy Chocolate Spritz Cookies are delicate, soft and have a heat to them which shows up slowly. Spritz cookies are created using a cookie press. Sometimes I’m late to the game and I’m okay with it. For years I’ve been going to Christmas cookie exchanges where so many of my friends were making delicate and fun shaped Spritz cookies. Up until this week, I’ve never thought about making them.
I’m staying with a friend who has this neat handy dandy cookie press machine. She bought it years ago at a Pampered Chef home party. She loves it. I could have make the typical butter cookie but I like to add some spice to my desserts.
After a few attempts, I was happy with the appearance and taste of the Spicy Chocolate Spritz cookie. I did struggle a bit with the thickness. If you want a better defined design then I suggest adding a teaspoon at a time to the batter to achieve the consistency you prefer.
If you are thinking about other cookies to make, try my NCR cookies. They too are spicy. Looking for spice but less sugar, then my Spicy Chocolate Pizzelles are a crowd pleaser. If spice is not your thing, check out my Lemon Pizzelles.
This is was by far the fastest and easiest cookie I had ever made. Now I get why so many make these for a cookie exchange. Don’t be surprised if i show up at next weeks cookie exchange with a few batches of these Spicy Chocolate Spritz cookies. The options for changing up the flavor and the designs are plentiful. These are quick, easy and fun to make. An easy cookie to make with little ones. Let me know which flavors you’ve created.
